A Large Suburban Front Yard

This large north facing front yard was underused and begging to be included in some of the backyard action.

A small patio area at the existing gate entrance to the backyard serves as a spacious entrance to the backyard, as well as a small seating area in the front yard. The patio also allows access from the porch which adds a new flow pattern from the house to the yard.

Two interconnected planting beds separate the patio from the house and from the front lawn. Low plantings serve as a privacy screens and as modified foundation plantings for the facade of the house.
The form of the patio and planting beds are defined by strong flowing edges. Mass planting within the beds further supports the overall theme of understatement with impact. An occasional specimen plant adds variety and surprise.
